A Year of (Actionable) Learning , & writing as a tool for growth
“It is impossible for a person to begin to learn what he thinks he already knows.” — Epictetus
I grew tremendously as a (product) designer over the last year. Regardless, the deeper I got into my work, the less I read and the less time I made for classes, etc. After coming up for some much needed air, I realized that I can and need to make time for myself as well as intentional learning. You can read a million medium posts mid-uber ride, but the more you consume without applying what you’ve learned is doing yourself a disservice.
Here is my resolution: To use actionable learning as a tool to become the best version of my(2017)self.
I hope to use writing as a tool to be intentional about what I’ve learned, what I’m learning, understand my own processes, clearly communicate my rationale and, of course, sharing all of this so that others may learn from me.
- I will read everything I can.
- I will improve and learn new skills.
- I will make what I learn actionable.
While you cannot find time, you can create it — and I will make sure that I create the space to do this for myself. I’m writing this post without a content plan, without agonizing over meeting any standards and I will publish it without worrying about the fact that it may not get any views.
