3 Eight Photography - Case Study

3 Eight Photography is a photography service based in Memphis, Tennessee, specializing in wedding and lifestyle photography. I was tasked with refreshing the current brand image and creating a new aesthetic that is simple, approachable, a touch feminine and that stands apart from similar photography services in the area.

We decided that a hand-drawn logo would help reinforce a friendly, approachable aesthetic and would compliment the photography well. I immediately began sketching out initial ideas and expanded on the idea of the laurel branches as part of the logo. The client didn't want to use the overly feminine colors commonly used among wedding photographers, so we went with a muted, more neutral color scheme with only a few pops of color. Thus, the laurel branches helped add some femininity to the design.

The final logo set needed to also include a watermark that wouldn't draw too much attention or take away from the photos, so I used a simplified version of the primary logo with the camera removed, as well as an alternate version with only the camera icon and "3EIGHT" text.

Morgan deserves 10 stars for the work she did for me! She was amazing to work with. Very fast turn around time and the final product blew me away. I’m am beyond pleased and will most definitely be working with her again.
